"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
Psalm 33:12
"Under God" wasn't added to the Pledge until 1954, but the principle is as old as the Republic. The Founders understood what modern America forgets: a nation that places itself above God places itself on a path to destruction.
This design is a reclamation. It declares that the ordering matters. God first, then nation. Not nationalism baptized in religious language—but genuine submission to divine authority expressed through love of country.
Psalm 33:12 states it plainly: "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Not the nation that mentions God occasionally. Not the nation that uses God for political leverage. The nation whose God—whose actual Lord—is Yahweh.
When you wear this, you're making a statement about hierarchy. About who's actually in charge. About where ultimate allegiance lies. You're saying that patriotism without piety is just tribalism with better marketing.
One nation. Under God. In that order.
